Shanice Steenholdt was a four-year letterwinner for the HBU women’s basketball team from 2011-15, then went on to play professionally in Portugal, Australia, Romania and Lumembourg. The Roswell, New Mexico, native ranks fourth all-time in scoring with 1,686 points, fifth with a .512 field-goal percentage, fifth with 931 rebounds, second with 158 blocked shots and 12th with 181 steals. Steenholdt is the Huskies’ all-time leader with 18.3 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game and is the only HBU player to average a double-double for her career. She has the top four single-season scoring averages in school history and ranks two through five in single-season rebounding average. Steenholdt set the school record with 40 points, making a school-record 17 field goals, against Huston-Tillotson on Jan. 10, 2012. She also scored 30 or more points six times, with all other players combining for only 10. Steenholdt was a two-time All-Great West Conference selection, earning honorable mention in 2011-12 and first-team honors in 2012-13. She was a first-team All-Southland Conference pick in 2013-14 and made the Commissioner’s Spring Academic Honor Roll in 2014 and 2015.
