Hall of Honor
Bonds was a member of the inaugural class of students for then-Houston Baptist College, was the school’s first-ever four-year letter winner. He was a popular figure on campus, being named Mr. HBU a senior. On the court, Bonds averaged 11 points per game in his final season with the Huskies and scored 950 points over his final three campaigns. While stats from the first eight-game season in 1963 have not been found, there is a high likelihood Bonds is the school’s first player with 1,000 career points. During HBU Basketball’s 50th Season Celebration in 2015, Bonds was selected to the 1960’s All-Decade Team.
