Ashkan Nowamooz was a three-year letterwinner for HBU men's soccer. A two-year Trans American Athletic Conference honoree ('84 and '85), Nowamooz scored a personal-best 35 points in 1984, on 14 goals and seven assists, as he averaged 1.94 points per game that season. He scored 11 goals in the 1985 campaign. Nowamooz is third in the HBU career record books with 77 points (31g, 13a), third in career goals (31), and is the program leader in career game-winning goals with 10.

"Ashkan was one of the most enjoyable guys to watch," said Saleim Kahleh, who was an assistant coach when Nowamooz played. "He was very fun to watch. He constantly frustrated the opponents. He was always laughing and enjoying himself."

"Ashkan was a very solid player for HBU back in the '80s," said former HBU head men's soccer coach Steve Jones. "He helped lead the team to conference titles in '84 and '85 and is up in the leader boards in several categories. Although I did not see him play, those that knew of him said he was a great player and a great guy, one that is deserving of the induction into the HBU Athletics Hall of Honor."
