Ron Cottrell

Ron Cottrell has been the Huskies' basketball coach since 1990 and also served as athletic director from 1994-2009. He is HBU's all-time winningest basketball coach with a career record of 497-452. He was named National Coach of the Year for the 2002-03 season, achieving the No. 1 national ranking. Cottrell's teams made 10-straight NAIA National Tournament appearances, winning the Red River Athletic Conference nine-straight times. He was named the league's coach of the year all nine times and coached 15 All-America selections and seven Academic All-America honorees.

In addition to his coaching accolades, Cottrell was named the 2001 NAIA Region Athletics Director of the Year. He saw the Huskies collectively win 42 conference championships and make 32 national tournament appearances. Under his watch, HBU student-athletes earned 96 All-America and 62 Academic All-America honors, and the graduation rate within the athletic department was above 90 percent.
