HOUSTON - HBU scored four runs in the second, while senior lefthander
Taylor Franzman and the bullpen were solid in the Huskies' 6-4 victory over Texas Southern in non-conference baseball Tuesday afternoon at Husky Field.
Franzman (1-3) earned his first win of the season, allowing three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks in six innings. Senior righthander
JT Newton earned his seventh save of the season, which is tied for third in school history in a single season, and he recorded his 18th career save, one behind all-time leader Dylan Zarosky.

Cal Clark went 3-for-4 and scored a run, while senior centerfielder
Anthony Jones was 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run for the Huskies (15-29). Junior second baseman
Trent Franson went 2-for-4 with a run, junior first baseman
Johnny Gonzales doubled and scored and junior leftfielder
Ryne Edmondson singled, drove in a run and scored.
Oscar Ponce went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and scored, while Keanu Van Kuren went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and a run for the Tigers (15-30). Olajide Oloruntimilehin went 2-for-4 with a triple.
Christian Sanchez singled with two outs in the first, then scored on Van Kuren's double off the wall to give TSU a 1-0 lead.
Senior designated hitter
Erik Voller led off the bottom of the second with a single, Edmondson walked, then Clark laid down a bunt single to load the bases with no outs. A sacrifice fly by sophomore catcher
Jeremy Simon tied the game, but a pair of errors by TSU led to the go-ahead run scoring and Clark going to third. Jones followed with an RBI triple, then he scored on junior shortstop
Nathan Soriano's sacrifice fly to put HBU ahead, 4-1.
TSU answered with Van Kuren's second RBI double of the game in the third, then he scored on an RBI single by Ponce to cut HBU's advantage to 4-3.
Franson singled to lead off the the fifth and Gonzales followed with a double to right. Junior rightfielder
Brandon Bena came through with a sacrifice fly to deep center and Edmonson delivered an RBI single up the middle for a 6-3 lead.
Franzman was at his best with his back against the wall, as he stranded Oloruntimilihen at third after a leadoff triple in the second and the Tigers failed to score in the sixth when they loaded the bases with no outs.
Ponce hit a solo home run to left off senior
Daniel Endsley in the eighth, but Newton came on and shut the door in the ninth. Freshman
Chris Burns pitched a perfect inning in relief, striking out two.
The Huskies finish the regular season with nine-straight Southland Conference games, beginning with a three-game series against Nicholls Friday through Sunday in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
