2020: Burns made five appearances, including one start…went 1-1 with a 6.11 ERA, one save, 11 strikeouts and 11 walks in 17.2 innings…hurled five innings of near-perfect relief, striking out three, with the only batter reaching on a wild pitch after a strikeout, to earn the win against Texas State (2/19)…threw the final three innings to pick up the save against Ball State (2/23)…named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Spring Academic Honor Roll.
 
2019: Made 11 appearances, including two starts as a true freshman…did not record a decision, with a 6.60 ERA, eight strikeouts and nine walks in 15.0 innings…made his first career start, allowed five runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings, his longest outing of the season, in a 13-7 victory over UT Rio Grande Valley (4/10)…named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

High School: Was a four-year starter at Westbury High School for coach Chris Dusablon…as a senior, posted a 1.83 ERA with 86 strikeouts in 48 innings, earning first-team all-district and district pitcher of the year honors…was a first-team all-district pick as a junior and sophomore and earned second-team honors as a freshman…threw two no-hitters.
