EDINBURG, Texas – With two outs and nobody on base in the top of the third inning, HBU rallied for three runs and held off UTRGV for a 3-2 victory in non-conference baseball to wrap up its 13-game road swing Tuesday night at UTRGV Baseball Stadium.

Marshall Herron (1-1) tossed six solid innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on six hits with three strikeouts and a walk for the Huskies (6-11). Junior righthander
Hunter McClellan hurled two scoreless innings, striking out three, then junior righty
JT Newton held the Vaqueros scoreless in the ninth for his third save of the season.

Jake Scott went 2-for-4 with an RBI and senior catcher
Jake Pulcheon singled and drove in two runs for HBU.
Ben Butler (0-1) took the loss for UTRGV (10-8), giving up three runs on one hit with three strikeouts and three walks in 2.2 innings. Luis Acosta held the Huskies scoreless on three hits over 4.1 innings of relief, but allowed all three of his inherited runners to score.
Ivan Estrella went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Anthony Gomez went 2-for-4 with a double and scored a run, while Coleman Grubbs went 2-for-5 for the Vaqueros.

Spencer Halloran to load the bases. Pulcheon ripped a two-run single to center for a 2-0 lead, then senior rightfielder
Matt Heck singled to left to reload the bases. Scott's RBI single to left extended the lead to 3-0 and proved to the be decisive run.
Conrad McMahon walked in the fifth, then Gomez doubled. Estrella brought them home with a two-run single to left to cut HBU's lead to 3-2.
McClellan struck out the side in the eighth, then turned it over to Newton for the ninth. Newton struck out Oliver Closner, but walked Mahon, Grubbs singled to center, then Gomez walked to load the bases with one out. Estrella struck out, then Austin Siener flied out to center to end the game.
The Huskies return home to open Southland Conference play with a three-game series against Nicholls Friday through Sunday at Husky Field. Friday's opener begins at 2 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. first pitch Saturday and a 2 p.m. start Sunday. The YouTube video broadcast with
