NORTHRIDGE, California - HBU's eight Los Angeles-area natives will return home as the Huskies travel to take on Cal State Northridge in a four-game series Friday through Sunday at Matador Field. Friday's opener begins at 2 p.m. PDT, followed by an 11 a.m. PDT doubleheader Saturday and Sunday's 1 p.m. PDT finale.
 
HBU (10-6) is coming off a Southland conference series victory on the road at McNeese and the Huskies have won seven of their last 10. Senior shortstop Louie Payetta was named SLC Hitter of the Week after hitting .818 over the weekend and is now hitting .349 for the season with four doubles, 10 RBIs and eight runs. Senior Greg Espinosa is the team's leading hitter at .377 with four doubles, a triple, 10 RBIs and a team-leading 12 runs. Senior first baseman Andrew Alvarez is hitting .339, is tied for second in the SLC with six doubles, has a triple, a home run, nine RBIs and eight runs, while junior rightfielder Brandon Brintz is hitting .328, leads the conference with four triples, leads the team with 12 RBIs and has scored 10 runs.
 
The Huskies are expected to send junior righthanders Addison Russ (3-0, 2.10 ERA) and Julian Griego (3-0, 3.96 ERA), junior lefthander Christian Thames (0-2, 3.57 ERA) and junior righthander JT Jakubik (0-1, 3.00 ERA) to the mound.
 
In addition to Payetta (Huntington Beach), Espinosa (Yucaipa), Alvarez (Riverside), Brintz (Murietta) and Griego (Long Beach), the Huskies also have senior designated hitter Austin Saenz (Trabuco Canyon), senior outfielder Brandon Morones (Yorba Linda) and junior centerfielder Joe Van Marter hailing from the Golden State.
 
CSUN (14-3) has won nine in a row and has scored double-digit runs in four of its last five games, including a 20-12 victory over UCLA. Fred Smith is hitting .429 with four doubles, 10 RBIs and 14 runs, while Justin Toerner is hitting .359 with four doubles, a triple, 11 RBIs and 11 runs. Branden Berry is hitting .327 with three doubles, five home runs, 17 RBIs and 19 runs. Albee Weiss is tied for the team leads with five homers and 17 RBIs, and Yusuke Akitoshi ranks second on the team with 17 runs.
 
The Matadors plan to send righthander Angel Rodriguez (2-0, 1.64 ERA), lefthander Kenny Rosenberg (2-0, 2.49 ERA) and righthanders Rayne Raven (1-1, 2.57 ERA) and Joe Ryan (0-0, 2.70 ERA) to the hill.
