Previous School: Griego played two seasons at Long Beach City College for Coach Casey Crook...as a sophomore, was named South Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year…made 12 starts, going 8-3 with a 2.08 ERA, 95.0 innings pitched and seven complete games…as a freshman, made 13 appearances, including three starts, going 5-0 with one save, a 1.01 ERA and 44.0 innings pitched…earned South Coast Conference Honorable Mention.
 
High School: Was a three-year letterwinner at Long Beach Poly High School for Coach Toby Hess…three-year starter at second base, winning the team gold glove award…named All-Moore League first team in 2013 and second team in 2012…made the principal’s honor roll all four years.
 
Personal: Full name is Julian Daniel Griego…born June 9, 1995, in Long Beach, California…son of Daniel and Cynthia Griego…has one brother, Joseph…majoring in psychology.
