Biography

2015 (Junior): Saenz appeared in 43 games, primarily as the designated hitter…batted .248 with 10 doubles, two home runs, 13 RBIs and 10 runs scored…recorded 11 multi-hit games and hit safely in the first five games…hit a two-run home run in a 5-1 victory over Iowa (3/15)…went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, an RBI and two runs at Stephen F. Austin (4/11)…went 2-for-5 with three RBIs against UT Arlington (4/28).
 
2014 (Sophomore): Started the first four games of the season in rightfield, before breaking his arm and missing the rest of the season…hit safely in his first three games, hitting .333 (3-for-9) with three RBIs and three runs.
 
Previous School: Played for Orange Coast College his freshman year for Coach John Altobelli…had a .300 batting average and led the team in stolen bases…redshirted his first year at Cal State Fullerton…was a member of the NCAA National Honor Society at Cal State Fullerton.
 
High School: Was a four-year letter winner for Coach Chris Ashbach at Mission Viejo High School…broke the school record for stolen bases his sophomore year…batted .341 and was named to the All-South Coast Team his junior year…batted .485 his senior year…helped his team win the CIF D2 Championship at Dodger Stadium…was named the CIF Player of the Year, First Team All-State, Sea View League MVP, team MVP, LA Times All-Southland Team and the OC Register First Team…his single season records include 112 at bats, 54 hits, 49 runs, 12 doubles, 20 hit by pitches and 26 stolen bases…his career records include 108 runs and 59 stolen bases.
 
Personal: Full name is Austin Kent Saenz…born Sept. 4, 1992 in Laguna Hills, California…son of Tom and Jennifer Saenz…has one older sister, Ashley…father, Tom, played baseball for Cal State Fullerton from 1981-1983, was drafted by the New York Mets and played for Athletes in Action (Japan, Korea and Alaska)…majoring in kinesiology.
