Match NotesHBU-SHSU Live StatsHBU-SELA Live StatsHUNTSVILLE, Texas – HBU women's soccer has already checked off one goal leading into the final weekend of the regular season: reach the conference tournament. The Huskies did that following a 2-1 win at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Oct. 26. Now, HBU has its eyes set on another goal: earn a first-round bye, which is given to the first two teams. HBU will try to do just that when the Huskies play at Sam Houston State Friday at 6:30 pm and close the regular season hosting Southeastern Louisiana Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1 pm on "Senior Day."
Sam Houston State leads the all-time series, 4-2-0, and won last season's meeting, 1-0, in Houston. HBU leads the series over SELA, 1-0-1, as the two teams tied in Hammond, La., last season, 1-1.
Third-place HBU (7-6-2 overall, 6-1-2 SLC) is on a five-match winning streak - the longest since 2012 - with 1-0 and 2-1 wins at Nicholls and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, respectively.
Natalie Hager leads the team with six goals and 12 points.
Kristi O'Brien is second on the team with four goals and nine points.
Rebekah Tovar leads the squad with four assists and has eight points on two goals. She leads the team with two game-winning tallies.
Reigning SLC Goalkeeper of the Week,
Patty Walrath, is 7-5-2 with a 0.98 goals-against average, a .829 save percentage, and four complete-game shutouts (one shared with
Katie Turner). Walrath is second in conference play with a 0.66 GAA and a .882 save percentage.
Second-place Sam Houston State (8-8-0 overall, 7-2-0 SLC) won its third and fourth-straight matches with road wins at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (2-1) and Southeastern Louisiana (1-0).
Allie Johnson, the reigning SLC Offensive Player of the Week, leads the Bearkats with eight goals and 19 points. She and two other players lead the team with three assists.
Kylie Hambleton is 7-7-0 in goal with a 1.64 GAA, a .693 save percentage, and three shutouts. She has made 52 saves in 1260 minutes.
Fourth-place Southeastern Louisiana (12-5-0 overall, 5-4-0 SLC) lost its only game last weekend, a 1-0 decision at home to Sam Houston State. The Lady Lions host Nicholls Friday before playing HBU.
Bri Singh leads the conference with 13 goals and 29 points. Maggie Ramsey has 20 points on seven goals and six assists. Katie Noonan leads the Lady Lions with 10 assists.
Hope Sabadash and Casey Jeanfreau have split time in goal. Sabadash is 8-1-0 with a 0.54 GAA, a .891 save percentage, and five shutouts. Jeanfreau is 3-4-0 with a 1.41 GAA, a .771 save percentage, and one shutout.
