WSOC: Huskies Aim to Even Record vs. Texans on Sunday

HCU is coming off a 4-2 road victory over Grambling State on Thursday

HOUSTON – The HCU women's soccer team is back on home turf this Sunday afternoon when the Huskies welcome the Tarleton State Texans to Sorrels Field at 1:00 p.m. with a chance to push their record back to .500.

HCU (2-3-1) snapped a three-match winless streak this past Thursday, erupting for four goals in the first 28 minutes of a 4-2 road win over Grambling. Madison Stormberg scored twice for the Huskies while Olivia Rossman scored one and assisted on two others. Paisley Barela was credited with a pair of assists, as well, and Mikaela Valentine scored her first collegiate goal in the win.

The Huskies' first win of the 2025 season came on the road against the Texans (0-2-4). HCU fell behind in that match, 2-0, within the first 14 minutes but fought back with three unanswered goals. Stormberg and Isabella Dillow were among the goal-scorers back on the 2026 roster.

Tarleton State, looking for its first win of the season, has tied Southland Conference opponents each of the last two times out. This past Thursday, the Texans played UIW to a 0-0 draw in San Antonio after tying Lamar at home last Sunday, 1-1.

Four different Tarleton players are tied for the team lead with one each. In goal, Rylie Bloomfield has played the lion's share of the minutes with a 1.50 goals against average and a .680 save percentage.

HCU will remain at home for a Friday, Sept. 11, matchup against the Southern Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. at Sorrels Field.
