DALLAS, Texas – The HCU women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to ACC-member SMU on Sunday evening at Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium.
HCU (1-3-1) registered the first shot of the game with Zylee Dominguez testing SMU (4-1-1) keeper Aubrey Brown within the first 45 seconds of the game but Brown came up with the save. The Mustangs answered with a pair of shots on target in quick success in the fourth minute but Emmy McKeon stopped both. SMU got on the board 10 minutes later on a goal by Maleeya Martin with an assist from Kaylee Noble. The Mustangs picked up their second goal in the 38th minute off the foot of Londynn Hagan and led 2-0 at the half.
The second half saw less offensive action with the two teams combining for 10 shots attempted but SMU managed the lone shot on goal of the second 45 minutes.
The Mustangs held a 20-4 advantage in shots attempted with seven on goal to HCU's one. The Huskies earned three corners in the loss. In goal, McKeon finished with five saves.
The Huskies head across state lines to take on Grambling State this coming Thursday, Sept. 3, in Ruston, La. at 5:00 p.m.
