HOUSTON - HBU returns to Southland Conference play when it faces Northwestern State in a three-game series Friday through Sunday at Husky Field. The Husky Sports Network video broadcast with Russ Reneau will be available for all three games on HBUHuskies.com.

HBU (6-18, 0-6 SLC) is expected to send senior righthanders Zach Carter and Brady Batten and junior righthander Kyle Gruller to the mound. Senior closer JT Newton has recorded three saves and has moved up to third on the Huskies' all-time list.

Junior first baseman Johnny Gonzales is hitting .300 with seven doubles, two triples, two home runs, 11 RBIs and 12 runs, while junior third baseman Trent Franson is hitting .265 with four doubles, a triple, four RBIs and 12 runs for the Huskies. Senior outfielder Anthony Jones is hitting .257 with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, 13 RBIs and 11 runs, while junior righfielder Brandon Bena and junior second baseman Nathan Soriano have each hit safely in the last four games.

NSU (13-9, 5-4) will likely start lefthander Ridge Heisler and righthanders Jerry Maddox and Nathan Jones.

Caleb Ricca is hitting .338 with 10 doubles, four home runs, 18 RBIs and 24 runs, while Sam Taylor is hitting .288 with three doubles, a triple, a home run, nine RBIs and 13 runs for the Demons. Jeffrey Elkins is hitting .338 with eight doubles, two triples, 14 RBIs and 10 runs, while Larson Fontenot is hitting .343 with three doubles, a triple, two homers, 12 RBIs and 14 runs.

The Demons lead the all-time series against the Huskies, 9-4, and won two-of-three last year in Natchitoches, Louisiana. HBU has a slight 4-3 advantage over NSU since the Huskies joined the Southland Conference in 2014.

The Huskies will be on the road for their next four, facing Lamar Wednesday in Beaumont, followed by a three-game series at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday through Sunday.
