HOUSTON - HBU rallied for six runs in the eighth, but UTSA had already done its damage in a 14-6 victory over the Huskies in non-conference baseball Tuesday afternoon at Husky Field.
Sophomore second baseman
Hayden Baker doubled and drove in three runs, while junior third baseman
Trent Franson went 2-for-5 and scored a run for HBU (5-15).
Senior lefthander
Taylor Franzman (0-2) took the loss, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits with a strikeout and a walk in 1.2 innings, as the Huskies used six pitchers.
Bryan Arias went 3-for-6 with a double, two RBIs and three runs, while Aldo Buendia went 3-for-3 with a double and scored for UTSA (9-12). Nick Thornquist went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and two runs and Ryan Stacy went 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and scored twice for the Roadrunners. Griffin Paxton drove in a pair and Dylan Rock scored three times.
A.G. Yowell (1-0) picked up the win, holding the Huskies hitless with three walks in 2.2 innings as UTSA used seven pitchers.
The Huskies return to action when they travel to face Tulane in a three-game non-conference series Friday through Sunday in New Orleans.
