2018 (Junior): Batten made 17 appearances, including 14 starts…went 4-6 with a 3.96 ERA, 69 strikeouts and 41 walks in 88.2 innings…also hit .243, going 9-for-37 with a double, a home run, four RBIs and five runs…threw 2.0 shutout innings in a season-opening 1-0 loss at Baylor (2/16)…won his first career start, allowing two runs in 6.0 innings against Texas Southern (2/20)…allowed one run on three hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in 7.0 innings for a 3-1 victory over Houston (3/6)…took a no-decision, allowing two runs on six hits with four strikeouts at Abilene Christian (4/15)…threw 121 pitches, giving up two runs on four hits with a career-high 10 strikeouts and one walk in 7.0 innings for a 3-2 victory at Northwestern State (4/29)…allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts in 6.0 innings in a 13-2 win over Stephen F. Austin.
 
Previous School: Played two seasons at Northeast Texas Community College for coaches Austin Knight and Shane Wedd…as a sophomore, made 15 appearances, including 14 starts, going 7-5 with a 4.99 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 70.1 innings…hit .327 with 12 home runs, 11 doubles, 52 RBIs and 33 runs.
 
High School: Played three years at James Earl Rudder High School for coach Matt Harbin.
