SUGAR LAND, Texas - After tying for third in the regular season, HBU will be the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 seed Central Arkansas in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Constellation Field.

The Huskies (26-28, 18-12 SLC) are led by senior outfielders
Matt Heck and
Spencer Halloran, who were each named All-Southland Conference First-Team selections. Heck was also tabbed the league's Hitter of the Year, hitting .364 with nine home runs, 10 doubles, five triples, 45 RBIs and 33 runs, while Halloran hit .326 with nine homers, 17 doubles, a triple, 39 RBIs, 41 runs and 18 stolen bases. Jonathan Ducoff led the league with eight home runs in conference play and hit .280 with nine home runs, 13 doubles, 26 RBIs and 27 runs. Senior shortstop
Tyler Depreta-Johnson was selected to the All-Defensive Team and earned third-team all-conference honors. He is the only shortstop in the nation with one or fewer errors with at least 250 chances, did not make an error in 149 chances in league play, while hitting .321 with three home runs with seven doubles, 20 RBIs and 17 runs in conference games.

The pitching staff is led by senior lefthander
Matthew McCollough, who was a first-team all-conference pick, leading the league in wins, going 8-3 with a 3.02 ERA, 95 strikeouts and 12 walks in 101.1 innings. Junior righthander
Zach Carter went 4-4 with a 3.91 ERA, 74 strikeouts and 24 walks in 101.1 innings and junior righthander
Brady Batten was 4-6 with a 3.51 ERA, 67 strikeouts and 37 walks in 84.2 innings. Junior righthander
JT Newton leads the Huskies with four saves.

HBU is making its third appearance in the Southland Conference Tournament, going 4-0 en route to the title in 2015, and 3-2 last year, falling in the final of its side of the bracket on championship Saturday. The Huskies and Bears have faced each other five times in HBU's two previous tournament appearances, with the Huskies holding a 3-2 edge in those matchups.

The tournament festivities begin with the inaugural Home Run Derby Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Halloran will be representing HBU in the contest.
