NATCHITOCHES, Louisiana - HBU, which has won its last four games and nine of its last 11 league contests, visits Northwestern State for the first time as league rivals in a three-game Southland Conference series Friday through Sunday at Brown-Stroud Field.
 
The Huskies (20-21, 12-6 SLC) will likely start junior righthander Zach Carter (3-3, 4.06 ERA), senior lefthander Matthew McCollough (6-1, 2.34 ERA) and junior righthander Brady Batten (2-4, 3.30 ERA). Senior righthander Matt Heck has four wins and a save out of the bullpen.
 
Heck is leading HBU offensively with a .350 batting average, is tied for the league lead with eight home runs, seven doubles, four triples, leads the Southland with 39 RBIs and has scored 25 runs, while senior outfielder Spencer Halloran is hitting .333, is tied with Heck with eight homers, has 12 doubles, 29 RBIs, 34 runs and 13 stolen bases. Junior centerfielder Jonathan Ducoff is hitting .268 with six home runs, eight doubles, 14 RBIs and 20 runs, senior shortstop Tyler Depreta-Johnson has four home runs, five doubles and 21 RBIs and senior first baseman/catcher Jake Pulcheon has two home runs and 25 RBIs.
 
The Demons (23-18, 9-9) are expected to start lefthander Ridge Heisler (4-2, 2.55 ERA) and righthanders Jerry Maddox (4-3, 2.64 ERA) and Nathan Jones (2-4, 3.36 ERA).
 
NWST is led by Kwan Adkins, who is hitting .362 with four doubles, a triple, a home run, 16 RBIs and 24 runs and David Fry, who is hitting .348 with 19 doubles, a triple, is tied for the league lead with eight home runs, 39 RBIs and 34 runs.
 
The Demons lead the all-time series against the Huskies, 7-3, but HBU has a 3-1 edge since joining the Southland in 2014.
 
Friday's opener begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. start Saturday and a 1 p.m. first pitch for the finale Sunday. The Legacy Sports Network audio broadcasts with Russ Reneau begin with the pregame show 10 minutes prior to each first pitch and are available on HBUHuskies.com.
