Summer CampsHOUSTON – HBU head volleyball coach
Trent Herman announced the dates for program's 2016 summer camps on Thursday afternoon.
Herman and his staff will offer three camps – Skills and Competition Camp, Position and Competition Camp and Elite Camp – inside Sharp Gym in early July.
The first camp offered will be the Skills and Competition Camp, set for July 1-3. Campers, grouped by age and skill level, will work on improving their individual skills in a team concept with competitive drills. The camp will close with a tournament.
The Huskies will then host their Position and Competition Camp, taking place July 5-7. The camp is specifically designed to help junior high and high school players get ready for their upcoming season with an emphasis on game preparation and game competitions. The camp will also have individual position training sessions for setters, liberos, middle blockers and pin hitters. The HBU coaching staff will assist and advise at every session and interact with each player to make this a productive preseason experience.
The final camp to be held is the Elite Camp, running July 8-10. The camp is aimed at advanced volleyball players who have already begun position-specific play with competitive teams. Most campers in this group desire to compete at the highest level and continue to play in college. Campers will get high-level offensive training and work on defensive techniques in groups with others of similar skill sets.
All three camps will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and cost $245 with an optional meal plan available for an additional $30.
