building on straight-set wins against Nicholls, McNeese, Northwestern State, and Texas A&M–Commerce.
This will be the first meeting between the Huskies and the Vaqueros this season. The two programs last met in November 2024, when UTRGV earned a 3-0 win in Edinburg.
Allana Archie continues to lead the Huskies' offense with 167 kills and 45 blocks on the season, followed by
Hannah Redrow and
Joya Euhus, who have combined for over 240 kills. Setter
Peyton Fadal has directed the attack with 494 assists, while libero
Bianca Byerly leads the defense with 201 digs and a team-high 23 aces from the service line.
UTRGV (9-7, 4-1 SLC) arrives in Houston as one of the league's top offensive teams, hitting .250 on the year. Dimitra Nanou leads the Vaqueros with 142 kills and 19 aces, while setter Isabella Costantini has totaled 531 assists and a team-best 28 aces. Defensively, Julianna Bryant anchors the front line with 48 blocks, and Celianiz Cabranes has recorded 251 digs to pace the back row.
Saturday's matchup will feature two of the Southland's top-performing lineups as both teams look to strengthen their position in conference standings. The Huskies will aim to defend home court once again before heading back on the road to face Stephen F. Austin on Thursday, Oct. 16, in Nacogdoches.
