Louie Payetta went 2-for-2 for the Huskies (15-13, 6-4 SLC), while junior second baseman
Greg Espinosa was 2-for-5 with a double. Freshman designated hitter
Zac Garcia extended his hitting streak to five with a double.
Eager went 1-for-3 with a home run and finished with four RBIs for ACU (7-19, 5-5). Mason Spracklen was 2-for-3 with a home run and drove in a pair, while Russell Crippen went 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored twice. Marcelle Carter went 2-for-5 and Aaron Draper scored twice for the Wildcats.
Nick Palacios (1-1) picked up the win for ACU, allowing one run on a hit and three walks in one and one-third innings. Wildcats starter Garrett deMeyere allowed one run on four hits with six walks in four and one-third innings.
Senior
Taylor Wright (5-2) took the loss for HBU, giving up five runs on five hits in six and one-third innings.
The Huskies left 17 runners on base, while the Wildcats left six.
The series continues Friday with a 2 p.m. start, followed by a 1 p.m. start for the finale Saturday.
