Bailey Keith as they lost a hard fought battle to Lamar 3-2 (25-21, 20-25, 24-26, 25-23, 12-15) Thursday evening at Lamar University.
Gaffney recorded 14 kills in the match, making her match hitting percentage .256. Wenger followed shortly behind her with 13 kills. Keith recorded 11 kills to help out HBU (5-9, 0-2 SLC). Freshman setter
Kayla Armer had 44 assists and nine digs for the Huskies. Junior libero
Haley Hoffman had a match-high of 28 digs for HBU.
Sierra Whittaker recorded 21 kills, while teammate Cortney Moore had 15 kills. Megan Schwartz had 10 kills and 16 digs for the Cardinals. Alexa Johnson recorded 50 assists for Lamar. Erika Rojas had 19 digs, while Molly Duge had 17 digs.
The Huskies outblocked the Cardinals 9-8. Lamar outhit HBU by just two kills. The Cardinals outdug the Huskies 74-64.
The Huskies return to action Saturday, Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. at Sam Houston State University. They will then go on to play at Nicholls State on Tuesday, October 1 at 6:30 p.m.
