HOUSTON — Houston Christian Volleyball returns to Sharp Gym on Tuesday evening for its annual Dig Pink match, hosting New Orleans at 6:30 p.m. in Southland Conference action.
The Huskies (10-11, 5-3 SLC) will look to end a three-match skid after falling 3-1 on the road at Lamar on Saturday. HCU enters the week tied for fifth in the conference standings alongside Lamar, sitting just two games back of the league leaders.
New Orleans (7-14, 2-6 SLC) travels to Houston after a 3-1 loss at UTRGV over the weekend. The Privateers currently sit in ninth place in the Southland and are searching for their first road win of the season.
HCU continues to rely on its balanced offense led by
Allana Archie, who paces the Huskies with 198 kills, followed by
Joya Euhus (157) and
Hannah Redrow (147).
Peyton Fadal directs the attack with 611 assists on the year while also contributing 138 digs and 18 blocks.
Defensively,
Bianca Byerly anchors the back row with 241 digs, and
Anna Melgren adds 185. Archie leads the net with 51 total blocks, while Euhus and Redrow have each added 31.
The Huskies are hitting .193 on the season while averaging 12.8 kills per set. Their opponents, meanwhile, are hitting .221.
New Orleans is led offensively by Courtney Roundtree, who has tallied 197 kills on a .211 hitting percentage, followed by Alessandra Meoni with 175 and Laura Piva with 144. Setter Defne Eciroglu has posted 546 assists, and libero Celia Mbaya leads the Privateers with 172 digs.
The Privateers hold a slight advantage in hitting percentage at .211, but have struggled at the service line, ranking near the bottom of the conference with 85 aces and 129 errors.
Following Tuesday's matchup, HCU will hit the road to face Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, Oct. 25, at noon in Hammond, La.
