Sophomore guard Rob Lewis led HBU (1-2) with 13 points and four rebounds, his 12th-straight game scoring in double figures. Sophomore center Cody Joyce has posted double figures in all three of the Huskies' games this season, adding 10 points and four rebounds. HBU's leading scorer, junior guard Tyler Russell, was held to nine points on 3-of-6 shooting. Sophomore guard Caleb Crayton made his season debut after recovering from a foot injury and scored nine points, hitting 3-of-3 from the field and 3-of-4 from the line.

Holmes made 7-of-14 from the field, including one of Texas' threes. Javan Felix made three threes and scored 14 points, Connor Lammert made both of his triples and scored 13 points, and Martez Walker hit a pair of treys and scored 10 points. Lammert led the Longhorns (4-0) on the glass with nine rebounds.

Texas shot 44 percent from the field and made 11-of-26 attempts from beyond the arc, while HBU shot 39 percent from the field and hit 5-of-9 3-pointers. The Longhorns only made 18-of-40 free throws, and the Huskies made 16-of-29. Texas outrebounded HBU, 52-33, and blocked 11 shots.

Joyce opened the scoring with a jump hook on HBU's first possession, but Texas scored the next 15, six coming from Holmes inside. The Longhorns extended their lead to 20-5, but Russell knocked down a three from the corner. Damarcus Croaker's three and fast-break dunk sparked a 9-0 run to put Texas up, 29-8, with 7:49 left. HBU answered by scoring the next 10, getting five points from Lewis, including a 3-pointer to cap the spurt and cut Texas' lead to 11.

Lammert hit back-to-back threes to put the Longhorns back up by 16, 35-19, at the four-minute mark. After Joyce made a layup, Croaker nailed a trey for Texas, but Lewis drove in for a layup and Russell hit a baseline floater to keep HBU within 16. In the closing minute, the Huskies forced a miss, held the ball for the final shot, and Lewis drilled a three with two seconds left to trim the Longhorns lead to 44-31 at the half.

HBU shot 42 percent from the field in the half, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range, while Texas shot 46 percent and hitting 7-of-15 from long range.
