HBU shot 44 percent from the field and made 5-of-14 from long range. Wright State shot 52 percent from the field, and made 6-of-11 3-pointers. The Raiders made 23-of-28 from the free-throw line, while the Huskies made 14-of-20. HBU outrebounded Wright State, 30-24, but the Raiders won the turnover battle, forcing 22, while committing only 14.

The Huskies scored the first four points of the game as Vilde threw an over-the-top pass to Joyce, then found a cutting Crayton for easy layups. The Raiders answered with a pair of free throws by Dixon, but Russell buried a long jumper. Crayton nailed a pair of threes and Joyce added another layup to put HBU up 14-6, but Wright State went on a 10-0 run, which included a three-point play by Davis and was capped by a JT Yoho 3-pointer to give the Raiders a two-point lead with just under 13 minutes left.

Russell stopped the run with a three to regain the lead for the Huskies, but Davis scored on a layup for the Raiders. Sophomore forward Dauson Womack scored five-straight points for HBU as the score was tied, 22-22, with 9:33 left. Wright State took the lead on a layup by Griffin, but freshman guard Jimmy Barton's trey from the corner put HBU up by one. The Raiders scored five-straight, which included a three-point play by Griffin, to take a 32-28 lead, but Russell drove inside for a layup. Davis went to the basket for two, Russell knocked down a baseline 15-footer, but Davis got free for a baseline dunk to put Wright State ahead, 36-32, with 3:12 remaining. Barton's putback off a Russell miss with 18 seconds left was the only score during the last three minutes and trimmed the Raiders' lead to 36-34 heading into halftime.

Russell led the Huskies with nine points at the half, and Crayton had eight, but none over the last 15:41 as he sat down with two fouls. Davis led the Raiders with 11 points. HBU shot 62 percent in the first half, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, while Wright State shot 46 percent, but only 1-of-5 from behind the arc. The Raiders went 11-for-15 from the free-throw line, while the Huskies were 4-for-6.

HBU opened the second half with a quick score by Joyce to tie it, but Matt Vest kept Wright State in the lead with a pair of free throws. Crayton made a steal, was fouled on a breakaway and knocked down both free throws for the tie, then Vilde's putback gave the Huskies a 40-38 lead. The advantage was short-lived as the Raiders scored the next eight on a Griffin layup, and back-to-back threes by Arceneaux and Dixon for a 46-40 lead with 15:43 remaining.

Junior guard Marcel Smith buried a three from the corner for HBU, but Jerran Young answered with a layup, then Vilde grabbed another offensive board and laid it in to make the score 48-45 with 14:34 left. The Raiders pulled away with a 10-0 run over the next six minutes when Griffin made a three, Dixon hit a jumper and a three, then Arceneaux capped it with a 17-footer.

The Huskies fought back by scoring the next seven, five of which came from the free throw line, to get within seven at the 5:00 mark. Arceneaux pulled up and nailed a jumper, but Vilde sank a pair of free throws on the other end.  Arceneaux hit a deep three with the shot clock running down to put Wright State ahead by 10 with just under two minutes remaining.
