Biography
2013-14 (Junior): Vilde was one of three players to appear in all 31 games and made 22 starts…averaged 6.5 points per game, was second on the team with 4.7 rebounds per game and led the team with 15 blocked shots…shot a team-leading 53.9 percent from the field, 50.0 percent (5-of-10) from 3-point range and 68.8 percent from the free-throw line…scored in double figures seven times and had a pair of double-doubles…scored a career-high 18 points and pulled down six rebounds in 20 minutes of a win over Central Arkansas (2/15)…followed up with 13 points and seven rebounds against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (2/22) and 12 points and 10 boards against Arlington Baptist (2/25)…posted 11 points and seven rebounds at Sam Houston State (2/1)…scored in double figures in three-straight games early in the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds in an overtime win at Army (11/3), 11 points in a win over Rice (12/4) and 10 points at Michigan (12/7).

PREVIOUS COLLEGE: Began his career at SMU, redshirting the 2010-11 season…as a freshman in 2011-12, appeared in 15 games, including five starts, and averaged 1.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and totaled 13 assists…had a career-high eight points against McMurry and had five points and five rebounds against Florida Gulf Coast…due to a coaching change prior to last season, Vilde was not a member of the basketball team, but finished his bachelor’s degree at SMU…has two-years of eligibility remaining as he pursues a master’s degree at HBU.

HIGH SCHOOL: Finished his prep career for coach James Graffam at Lee Academy in Maine, after leading his high school team in Latvia to two Riga city championships and two national runner-up finishes…career highs in high school were 34 points and 18 rebounds…played in the U16 and U18 European Championships and was a member of the Latvian Youth Basketball All-Star team.

PERSONAL: Full name is Ricmonds Vilde…born July 5, 1990, in Riga, Latvia…son of Raimonds and Irina Vilde…has one sister, Evija…father, Raimonds, coached the Latvian National Volleyball Team and earned a silver medal for the former Soviet Union at the 1988 Olympic Game in Seoul, South Korea, and a silver medal at the World Championships…sister, Evija, played volleyball at UCF…pursuing a master’s degree in international business.
