HOUSTON – The HCU women's basketball team returns home to play Arlington Baptist at 5:00 pm Wednesday night in Sharp Gym. Houston Christian University (HCU), formerly Houston Baptist University (HBU), underwent a name change in September 2022. 
 
HCU (3-4) ended a two-game winning streak with a loss to #21 Baylor last Sunday. Marilyn Nzoiwu recorded a team high 13 points and one block against the Bears.  
 
Arlington Baptist (1-2) beat St. Thomas (TX) before recently losing 104-44 against Southern Arkansas. The Patriots offense is led by Jakayla Bradford who averages 10.7 ppg, the only Patriot averaging double figures this season.  
 
The Huskies are 3-0 all-time against Arlington Baptist, the last meeting came in the 2020-21 season, which saw the Huskies win 86-50 in Sharp Gym.  
 
Abbey Sutherland recorded a double-double in that contest, recording 15 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 70 percent (7-of-10) from the field. Kennedy Wilson recorded 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Enya Maguire played 16 minutes off the bench with five assists, two boards, and two steals to go along with her four points.  
 
HCU is led by Julija Vujakovic who averages 13.2 points per game this season. N'Denasija Collins follows with 11.3ppg while Marilyn Nzoiwu pulls in a team high 6.3 rebounds per game.  
 
HCU has a quick turnaround against the St. Thomas Celts Saturday afternoon before closing out the non-conference schedule with a two-game road trip against Texas State and Texas on Dec. 20 and 21st.
