HOUSTON – Houston Christian women's basketball dropped a 71–47 decision to Stephen F. Austin on Saturday afternoon at Sharp Gym.
The Huskies (8-20,6-15 Southland) opened the game trading early possessions before a late first-quarter surge gave SFA an 18–9 advantage after one. HCU answered with scores in the paint from
Tove Caesar and
Jo Oly, but the Ladyjacks used a 26-point second quarter to extend the lead to 44–20 at halftime.
Grace Booth knocked down a three-pointer in the first quarter and later added multiple baskets in transition. Booth finished with 11 points, while
Martyna Czescik hit a pair of threes off the bench.
Jo Oly added five points and eight rebounds, and
Kamryn McLaurin contributed five points and three rebounds.
HCU found offensive rhythm late in the fourth quarter, connecting on seven field goals in the period. Booth added a late layup and Czescik hit a three-pointer in the final minute as the Huskies closed the game with improved pace and ball movement.
