Blaise Bentsen. Young played the second half against Prairie View A&M and completed 6-of-19 passes for 37 yards and a pair of interceptions. Freshman
Charles King has caught a touchdown in all three games and leads HBU with 17 catches for 175 yards, while sophomore
Tyson Thompson has 11 catches for 131 yards and junior
Branden Walker has 12 catches for 111 yards. Sophomore
Ismael Fuller has a pair of touchdown receptions. Freshman
Xzavier Ford is the Huskies' leading rusher with 81 yards on 23 carries.
Senior linebacker
Brennan Young has made 30 tackles, leading the Southland Conference and ranking 14th nationally with 10.0 tackles per game. Sophomore safety
Isaiah Cash has 23 tackles and junior defensive lineman
Kyler Baugh has 20 to go along with 3.5 sacks. Senior cornerback
Jordan Oliver has the Huskies' lone interception and has recovered a fumble.
HBU has been solid on special teams behind senior punter
Brady Buell and kicker
Gino Garcia making all five of his field goal attempts. Thompson has also been outstanding, returning a punt for a touchdown at New Mexico and two long kickoff returns to set up scores at Prairie View A&M.
Lindsey Scott Jr. has completed 57-of-90 passes for 725 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions, while also leading Nicholls in rushing with 287 yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries. Julien Gums has 208 yards on 43 carries. Dai'Jean Dixon has made 27 catches for 393 yards and three touchdowns, while K.J. Franklin has 11 catches for 93 yards and three scores.
Hayden Shaheen leads the Colonels with 17 tackles, while Perry Ganci and James Tobin IV each have 15. Zack Bernard has 2.5 sacks, while Ganci has two. The Colonels have yet to intercept a pass this year.
Nicholls leads the all-time series against HBU, 5-1. The Huskies won the first-ever meeting between the two schools in 2014, but the Colonels have won the last five. In a scheduling quirk for 2021, this will be the first of two meetings between HBU and Nicholls this season, with the Huskies hosting the Colonels on Oct. 23 in Houston.
HBU returns home to take on Northwestern State next Saturday at 6 p.m. at Husky Stadium.
