CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – After HBU battled to take a one-run lead into the ninth, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Brendan Ryan delivered a two-run single as the Islanders walked off with a 9-8, Southland Conference series clinching victory Sunday afternoon at Chapman Field.

Sebastian Trinidad went 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and scored a run for the Huskies (10-28, 7-17 SLC). Sophomore first baseman
Brennen Bales was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Every HBU starter had at least one hit, with junior second baseman
Jake Miller and senior third baseman
Nathan Soriano each recorded a double. Senior leftfielder
Lane Botkin and junior designated hitter
Todd Jackson each scored twice.
Junior lefthander
Austin Spinney (0-5) took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk in 4.1 innings of relief. Sophomore starter
Morris Austin gave up four runs on five hits in three innings and junior righthander
Andrew Reitmeyer gave up three runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning.
Ryan went 3-for-5 with a triple and drove in four runs for the Islanders (16-24, 12-11), while Josh Caraway went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs. Luke Marbach was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs and Itchy Burts was 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored twice.
JT Moeller picked up the win, holding HBU scoreless on two hits with a pair of strikeouts over the final two innings. Henry Bird allowed two runs, one earned on five hits in four innings of relief, while Cassius Shy allowed five runs on two hits in 2.1 innings.
HBU trailed 3-1 going to the third, then loaded the bases. Junior designated hitter
Todd Jackson was hit by a pitch to cut the deficit to one, then Trinidad followed with a three-run triple and scored on a passed ball to cap a five-run rally.
Marbach's RBI single and Caraway's two-run double regained the lead for the Islanders in the fourth, 7-6.
The Huskies tied it back up on senior catcher
Matt Solomon's RBI single in the fifth and Miller doubled and later scored on a passed ball as HBU took an 8-7 lead.
The Huskies return to action when they host Abilene Christian in a four-game series Friday through Sunday at Husky Field.
