RIVERSIDE, Calif. - HBU heads west to take on Cal Baptist in a three-game non-conference baseball series Friday through Sunday at Totman Stadium. The games will be shown on the WAC Digital Network.
 
Senior first baseman Johnny Gonzales is hitting .485 with five doubles, a home run, a triple, five RBIs and seven runs, while junior catcher Todd Jackson is hitting .409 with a home run, two RBIs and four runs for the Huskies (2-7). Senior leftfielder Ryne Edmondson has a six-game hitting streak and is batting .296 with three doubles, five RBIs and three runs and junior third baseman Jake Miller has reached safely in eight straight and is batting .278 with a double, two RBIs and two runs.
 
HBU is expected to send senior lefthander Solomon Klimeck, senior righthander Kyle Gruller and junior lefthander Austin Spinney to the mound. Senior lefthander Brent Pronger and sophomore righthander Chris Burns have each logged more than 10 innings out of the bullpen.
 
Nick Plaia is hitting .364 with a double, a triple, four RBIs and six runs, while Andrew Jurado is also hitting .364 with three RBIs and two runs for CBU (2-5). John Glenn is hitting .333 with a home run, a double, eight RBIs and three runs and Ulises Caballero is hitting .286 with a home run, three RBIs and four runs.
 
The Lancers are projected to start righthander Bryan Pope and lefthander Chris Burica Friday and Saturday, respectively, and have not decided on a Sunday starter yet.
 
This weekend's series marks the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
 
The Huskies return home to host Prairie View A&M Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Husky Field, followed by the Southland Conference opening series against Sam Houston State March 6-8 in Huntsville. All four games will be available on Husky Sports Network broadcasts.
