HOUSTON – HBU Softball begins a Southland Conference three-game road series Friday, March 6 with a double header starting at 1 p.m. and a single game at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at North Oak Park.
As a team, the Huskies (6-20, 3-9 SLC) have earned a .211 batting average. Sophomore
Heidi Jaquez leads the team hitting .286 at the plate with five doubles, a team high four home runs, 13 RBIs and leads the team with 18 runs scored. Senior
Nicole Shedd is batting .278 with a team high six doubles, while senior
Demi Janak has also posted four home runs and leads the team with 17 RBIs.
Freshman
Jessica Patak (4-11) leads the pitching staff with a 3.55 ERA and one save in 100.2 innings and fellow freshman
Elliott Estes (1-4) has a 3.80 ERA in 38.2 innings.
Southeastern Louisiana (20-14, 7-5 SLC) is coming off of a 2-1 series loss against Lamar in Beaumont, Texas. The team averages .283 batting average. Ali McCoy leads the team at the plate with a .339 batting average. Mahalia Gibson, who is batting .307, leads the team in multiple categories including seven doubles, seven home runs and 30 RBIs.
Rachel Hayes (7-6) has a 2.72 ERA with two saves in 74.2 innings. Tanner Wright (4-1) has a 2.79 ERA in 47.2 innings, while Lacey Hill has a 3.54 ERA in 59.1 innings.
HBU trails SELU in the all-time series, 6-10. The Lady Lions took the series, 2-1, in the 2017 season.
