SB: Five Huskies named Academic All-Conference

Second time to have five named, eighth straight season with at least two


 
Houston Christian University had five student-athletes named with 2026 Academic All-Conference honors, announced by the Southland Conference on Thursday afternoon.
 
Maddy Bailey, Leah Hammack, Breana Herrera, Cara Pitman and Addy Prasifka all earned the first honors of their career. The five awarded marks the 14th straight season to have honorees and the eighth consecutive year with at least two. It is the second time to have five honorees, the other coming in 2023.
 
Bailey, a graduate student who completed her Master's in Human Services, carries a 3.4 GPA. The Katy native and Team captain led the team with a .299 batting average with three homers and 14 RBI. She previously earned All-Defensive Team Honors in 2025.
 
Hammack, a sophomore from Magnolia majoring in Biology, carries a 3.86 GPA. She tied for the team lead in appearances in the circle and paced the team with seven complete games while posting a 4-10 overall mark.
 
Herrera earned her second Master's Degree with a 3.68 GPA in Leadership. The Corpus Christi product graduated with bachelor's degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology before earning her first Master's in Health Professions. A two-time Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete, Herrera set career bests in games, batting average, runs, hits and walks in her final season.
 
Pitman boasts a 3.94 GPA in Biology. The sophomore from Pearland made 25 appearances, leading the Huskies with 19 starts and 93.1 innings pitched. She finished 4-14 in the circle, winning three of her final four outings on the season.
 
Rounding out the quintet is Addy Prasikfa, who carries a 3.86 GPA in Elementary Education with ESL and SPED concentrations. The Houston native made 27 appearances in her final season with the Huskies, leading the team with 57 strikeouts in 80.1 innings and finishing her career tied for second saves.
 
Hallie Burns of Southeastern Louisiana University was named the Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year.
 
HCU completed the 2026 campaign at 11-36 overall and 8-19 in SLC play, the final season for Head Coach Mary-Ellen Hall, who announced her retirement after 35 years at the helm. The Huskies lose six off this year's club, including Bailey, Herrera and Prasifka as well as Karlie Barba, Chloe Foster and Christin Haygood.
 
Bert Emanuel was tabbed as the third head coach in program history on May 27.
