Senior leftfielder Spencer Halloran goes 3-for-4 with a double, RBI for Huskies



COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Eighth-ranked Texas A&M scored three runs in the first, then padded its lead with three runs in the seventh for a 7-1 victory over HBU in non-conference baseball Tuesday night at Blue Bell Park.
 
Senior leftfielder Spencer Halloran went 3-for-4 with a double to extend his hitting streak to six games, stole two bases and drove in a run for the Huskies (3-6). Sophomore third baseman Elijah Simon singled, stole a base and scored, while junior Grant Back had a pinch-hit single.
 
Junior righthander Brady Batten (1-1) allowed four runs on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks in five innings. Senior righthander Weston Smart gave up three runs on five hits and struck out two, while junior lefthander Taylor Franzman held the Aggies (8-0) scoreless for 1.1 innings.
 
Braden Shewmake went 2-for-4 with a home run, drove in two and scored twice, while Chris Andritsos went 2-for-4 with a home run, drove in a run and scored twice for Texas A&M. Logan Foster also had two hits and drove in two runs and Zach DeLoach singled and scored twice.
 
John Doxakis (2-0) picked up the win, allowing one run on three hits with eight strikeouts and no walk sin six innings, while Nolan Hoffman tossed two scoreless innings and Cason Sherrod pitched a perfect ninth.
 
Shewmake and Andritsos hit back-to-back solo home runs in the first and Foster added an RBI single to give the Aggies a 3-0 lead, then Michael Helman added an RBI double in the second.
 
Simon singled in the sixth, then stole second and scored on Halloran's RBI single up the middle. The Huskies loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh, but were unable to score.
 
The Huskies return to action when they face Rice in a three-game series Friday through Sunday at Reckling Park.
