NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Down 27 with 15 minutes remaining, HBU mounted a 21-0 run and tied the game at 75-75 with just over five minutes remaining but the Huskies' comeback attempt fell short as Belmont came out on top in the 93-88 decision at the Curb Event Center in Saturday's 2K Classic Benefiting Wounded Warrior Project matchup.

A David Caraher layup put HBU (1-2) on the board first but Belmont (3-1) responded with 10 quick points in the span of one and a half minutes to an early 10-2 advantage. The Huskies came out of a 30-second timeout and cut their deficit to five after an Ian DuBose layup at the 14:36 mark. HBU stayed within seven 8:24 in but a Bruins' 15-1 run brought the score to 33-12. HBU managed to get back within 11 but the Bruins pulled back away and led 51-33 at the half.

Belmont extended its lead further and with 15:02 remaining in the game, the score stood at 69-42. The Huskies then scored the next 21 points over the next six minutes but cut the Belmont lead to six with 9:09 remaining. Belmont's Dylan Windler knocked down a three with 8:47 remaining and a Kevin McClain dip-in again made it a double-digit game. HBU then used a 12-1 run to knot the score with 5:07 on the clock. Three Belmont free throws put the Huskies down three but Jalon Gates answered with his fourth three of the half to tie it at 78-78. Belmont knocked down 8-of-12 free throws over the final five minutes and managed to hang on to a slim lead the rest of the way.

HBU was led by DuBose who scored a career-best 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting in his third collegiate game while adding four rebounds, a pair of steals and an assist. Caraher added 17 for the Huskies, connecting on 4-of-7 from deep and 6-of-13 from the floor. Gates set a new career-high, knocking down 4-of-10 from three-point range and 3-of-3 at the free throw line, to finish with 15, all scored in the second half.

Josh Ibarra posted his first double-double of the young season, totaling 15 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three blocked shots. Braxton Bonds ended the night with six points, six rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.

The Huskies shot 41.1 percent (30-of-73) for the game and hit 12-of-25 (48 percent) from beyond the arc. Belmont won the battle on the boards, 48-39, but HBU's 12 offensive rebounds resulted in 22 second chance points.

McClain led all players with 27 points, knocking down 6-of-14 from long-range. Windler pulled down a game-high 14 boards while adding 23 points, hitting 6-of-9 from the floor and making 8-of-10 at the line.
