HOUSTON – HBU women's basketball returns home for the final two games of the regular season, beginning with an ESPN3 tilt with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday, March 3 at 5 p.m. from Sharp Gym.

This marks the third game HBU has been broadcast on ESPN3 this season and the first in Sharp Gym. Lyn Rollins will provide play-by-play with Van Chancellor on color commentary.

There will be a foam finger giveaway and a free Gugliani's pizza to the rowdiest fan.

TAMUCC leads the all-time series, 5-3, but HBU won its first-ever game in Corpus Christi earlier this season, 73-59, on Feb. 3. HBU currently is in a tie for fifth place in the conference standings with Nicholls, while TAMUCC shares the eighth and final playoff spot with Sam Houston State. One game separates HBU from TAMUCC. The top eight eligible teams make the conference tournament.

HBU (12-14 overall, 7-9 SLC) dropped its second-straight game following a 66-54 setback at Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 27. Heidi Sihvola scored a team-high 12 points, while Monet Neal dropped 11 points and pulled a game-high eight rebounds. Amanda Johnson scored 10 points and tied her career high of five rebounds. On the season, Anna Strickland continues to lead the Southland - and is 4th nationally - in both rebounding (13.0 per game) and double-doubles (20). She is also 3rd in the SLC in blocks (1.5 per game), 4th in field-goal percentage (45.8), sixth in steals (2.1 per game), and 10th in assists (3.1 per game) - the only non-guard in the Top 10. As a team, HBU is sixth in the conference in scoring offense (64.3) and fifth in scoring defense (64.7).

TAMUCC (10-17, 6-10) fell to Sam Houston State in Huntsville last Saturday, 75-57, despite 15 points and four 3-pointers from Shay Weaver. On the season, Brittany Mbamalu leads the Islanders with 10.0 points per game, followed by Weaver's 9.1. On the glass, Camesha Davis' 6.1 rebounds per game put her in a share for 15th in the SLC. Mbamalu is second in the conference with a 40.1 three-point field-goal percentage and her 2.7 made threes per game put her in a share for second. On the season, the Islanders are 12th in the SLC in scoring offense (59.8) and sixth in scoring defense (65.4).

After Thursday's contest, HBU hosts Incarnate Word on "Senior Day" Saturday, March 5 at 12 p.m.
