Texas (0-1) will be facing a quick turnaround after opening its season Monday on the road in California with a 71-59 loss to No. 11/10 Stanford. Brooke McCarthy led the Longhorns with 20 points on 8-of-20 shooting and five rebounds. Ariel Atkins was the only other player in double-figures for UT with 14. Wednesday's game marks the first-ever meeting between HBU and UT. The Huskies are facing only their third ranked opponent in the program's 10 seasons since returning to Division I. HBU's previous meetings against ranked opponents were both losses to Baylor in Waco, this past Friday and back on Dec. 15, 2013, in head coach
Donna Finnie's first season at the helm.
Two Huskies have mothers who played for UT. Sophomore guard
Amanda Johnson's mother, Debbie (formerly Riverkamp) played for the Longhorns from 1983-87, while sophomore center
Kennedy Collins' mother, Benita (formerly Pollard), played from 1990-94.
The Huskies return home for a three-game homestand, beginning with Rice in the home opener Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sharp Gym. HBU hosts Southwestern Assemblies of God Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m, followed by Oral Roberts Saturday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m.
