EL DORADO, Arkansas – The HBU men's golf team totaled 317 in the final round for a 54-hole total of 934 to finish ninth at the Duck Commander Intercollegiate Tuesday at the 7,064-yard, par-72 Mystic Creek Golf Club.
Junior
Val Almendarez was the lone Husky to break 80 in the final round, firing a 74, to tie for 18
th at 228. Junior
Carlos Trevino turned in an 82 and tied for 23
rd at 231, while freshman
Patricio Guerra carded 80 to tie for 35
th at 237. Freshman
Nicko Martinez shot 81 and tied for 37
th at 238, while junior
Guillaume Chalancon shot 82 to finish alone in 55
th at 250. Sophomore
Zach Campbell carded 81 to tie for 44
th at 240.
Arkansas State won the team title with a score of 895, two ahead of Stephen F. Austin, five ahead of Little Rock, six up on ULM and nine ahead of Oregon State.
Arkansas State's Tanner Napier won the individual title with a score of 5-under par 211, five shots ahead of ULM's Hogan Arey and eight better than Little Rock's Zach Coats.
The Huskies have completed the Fall portion of their schedule and return to action in the Spring semester at the All-American Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Houston Feb. 17-19 at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble.
