HOUSTON — Houston Christian closed out play at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic on Tuesday, finishing 11th at Westwood Golf Club after posting a team score of +23 over three rounds. Rice won the tournament at −25, followed by Houston (−19) and Louisiana (+2).
Brooks Pawlak led the Huskies with a strong finish, firing a 1-under 71 in the final round to tie for 31st at +5 overall. He got off to a hot start with four birdies on the front nine to make the turn at −3, then held on through the back nine to post HCU's lowest score of the day.
Mason Napier made a big move up the leaderboard with a 2-under 70, his best round of the tournament, to finish +6 in 36th place. Napier made three birdies on the front nine and added another on the back, keeping a clean card down the stretch.
Julian Worrell closed with an even-par 72 to finish tied for 47th at +9 overall. After a tough front side, he bounced back with two birdies and a bogey-free back nine.
Roy Barrera also tied for 47th at +9 after carding a 75 in the final round. A triple bogey on the fourth hole set him back early, but he steadied his play coming in with an even-par back nine.
John "Cooper" Camp joined Worrell and Barrera at +9 overall with a 73 on Tuesday. He played consistent golf, mixing one birdie and one bogey on the back after turning at +1.
Carter Patterson rounded out the lineup, finishing 75th at +18 overall after posting an 82 in the final round.
Next up, the Huskies will head to Louisiana for the La Tour Intercollegiate, set for Oct. 20–21 in Mathews. The event will mark the team's final tournament of the fall season.
