MGOLF: Chad Marti Named Head Men’s Golf Coach

Marti has been a volunteer assistant with the HCU golf programs since 2021

HOUSTON – On Wednesday afternoon, HCU Director of Athletics Stan Williamson announced the hiring of Chad Marti to be the Huskies' new head men's golf coach, effective June 1, 2026.

"With Coach Shuster's retirement after many years leading the program, we are blessed to have one of our own, Jordan Jeffers, to step in as Director of Golf," Williamson said. "Jordan has proven his value as a coach over a number of years, including this year's nod as Southland Conference Women's Golf Coach of the Year honors. Chad Marti has been a part of golf in Houston for his entire life and has been a tremendous help to HCU Golf over the last several years. Chad will now serve as HCU's Head Men's Golf Coach. We are very pleased that we have these two outstanding coaches to lead our golf programs."

"I'm honored to be named the next Head Coach of the HCU men's golf program and grateful to Stan Williamson and the University administration for the opportunity to build something special," said Marti. "Our expectation is to compete at the highest level while developing disciplined, resilient young men. We will establish a culture rooted in faith, accountability, and daily improvement – one that demands excellence and prepares our student-athletes to succeed on the course, and in life."

Marti has served as a volunteer assistant with the HCU golf programs for the last five years. During that time, he has had a hand in planning and executing daily practice sessions, qualifying rounds and tournament preparation. Additionally, Marti has worked individually with HCU golfers and in small groups on swing mechanics and course management while also helping mentor student-athletes in performance, discipline and their competitive mindset. He has provided support in logistics, travel coordination and tournament operations for the Huskies while working closely with the head coaches on player development strategies and lineup decisions for tournaments.

Since 2014, Marti has owned and operated Marti Golf Center, a full-service golf facility and instruction academy. Prior to that, he served as the Head Golf Professional at Evergreen Point Golf Club in Baytown, Texas from 2007 until 2011. He also spent time playing golf professionally at the national level after playing at, and graduating from, the University of Houston.

"We are very blessed to have Chad join our program as the Head Men's Coach," added Jeffers. "He has been a huge asset for many years already as our volunteer coach, and this is a natural and exciting transition for him to lead our men's team after Coach Shuster's retirement. Our players and I look forward to working with him further and what he will bring to our program. Dawgs Up!"
