HOUSTON - The men's golf team is gearing up for the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, taking place Monday and Tuesday at Westwood Golf Club in Houston, Texas. This prestigious event features a 14-team field, including Rice, Abilene Christian, Lamar, Incarnate Word, Louisiana, UT-Arlington, UTRGV, Texas Southern, Utah Valley, and Valparaiso, with LSU sending individual players.

Established in 1928, Westwood Golf Club is the second oldest private golf club in Houston, renowned for its rich history and commitment to excellence. The course underwent significant renovations in 2018, including resurfacing and recapturing original specifications on the greens, reconstructed bunkers, and resurfaced and leveled tees. The layout offers a blend of different styled holes, both in length and character, making each hole unique and memorable. 

Representing HCU at the tournament are Brooks Pawlak, Julian Worrell, Mason Napier, Carter Patterson, Roy Barrera IV, and Cooper Camp.

In their last tournament, junior Brooks Pawlak led the Huskies with a final score of four-over par (70-75-72), finishing 12th overall. Pawlak's final round featured a birdie on hole 4 and steady pars down the back nine, including a birdie on hole 15 and a clutch par save on the par-5 16th.

Freshman Julian Worrell also finished at four-over par (72-72-73) for 12th place individually. Worrell's third-round 73 was highlighted by three birdies on holes 4, 11, and 18.

Senior Carter Patterson closed the tournament with a 70 in the final round, moving up 14 spots to finish 32nd at 11-over par. Patterson's round featured four birdies, including a key birdie on hole 12, helping him climb the leaderboard and providing a late boost to the team total.

Rounding out the lineup, Cooper Camp ended at 15-over par, finishing in 43rd place, while Mason Napier finished at 17-over par for 49th. Napier's final-round 71 included multiple birdies on the front nine and steady par play down the stretch, showing resilience and consistency.
