MATHEWS, La. — Houston Christian men's golf closed out its fall season in historic fashion, finishing third at the La Tour Intercollegiate with a new team-low score of 25-under-par (839). The two-day event, hosted by Nicholls at LaTour Golf Club in Mathews, Louisiana, featured 15 programs from across the region. The Huskies fired rounds of 279, 282, and 278 to secure their best team finish of the season, ending just two shots behind South Dakota and 12 back of East Texas A&M.
Leading the way for the Huskies was
Mason Napier, who turned in one of the strongest performances of his collegiate career. Napier placed third individually at 11-under-par (205) after rounds of 71, 65, and 69. His second-round 65 was one of the lowest scores of the entire tournament, fueled by steady putting and precision off the tee. Napier's consistent play across all three rounds established him as one of the top performers in the field and set the pace for HCU's record-setting week.
Brooks Pawlak followed closely behind, finishing sixth overall at 9-under (207). After opening with a 68, Pawlak faced a tougher second round but responded with a dominant final day, carding a 65 that included several birdies down the stretch. His bounce-back performance was key in pushing the Huskies solidly into the top three and demonstrated his reliability as one of the team's most consistent scorers throughout the fall.
Carter Patterson also contributed a strong showing, placing 17th at 2-under (214). Patterson started the tournament hot with an opening-round 68 and maintained steady play through the next two rounds. His early momentum helped the Huskies gain ground on the leaderboard and showcased his growing consistency heading into the spring schedule.
Brendon Willey finished 25th at 1-over (217) after rounds of 72, 72, and 73. Willey provided key depth for HCU, delivering balanced scores that kept the team competitive throughout the tournament. His ability to remain composed under pressure added stability to the Huskies' lineup and contributed valuable counting scores across multiple rounds.
Competing individually,
Clayton Smith earned a 31st-place finish at 2-over (218). After a challenging start, Smith rebounded with a strong second round of 70 that highlighted his resilience and composure. His final round of 72 kept him among the top half of the leaderboard and rounded out a solid showing to end his fall slate.
John "Cooper" Camp rounded out HCU's efforts, placing 42nd at 5-over (221). Camp battled through a difficult opening round but regrouped impressively with a strong finish over the final two days, closing with a one-under 71. His steady improvement across the tournament reflected his perseverance and helped contribute to the Huskies' overall success at La Tour.
The Huskies' collective performance in Louisiana capped off an outstanding fall season marked by steady progress and a record-breaking finale. With confidence and momentum on their side, HCU will turn its focus to the spring schedule, opening at the Bentwater Intercollegiate on Feb. 9–10 in Montgomery, Texas.
