Live StatsGame NotesHOUSTON – After a season-long four-game road swing, HBU women's basketball returns home to Sharp Gym to host Sam Houston State in a key Southland Conference matchup on Saturday. First tip is scheduled for 4 p.m.
HBU leads the all-time series, 6-3, over the Bearkats as the teams split the season series last season, with each team winning on its home floor: The Bearkats won in Huntsville, 74-67, on Jan. 31 and HBU won in Sharp Gym, 66-61, on Feb. 14. 
HBU (8-10 overall, 3-5 SLC) forced conference leaders Abilene Christian to a season-high 23 turnovers, but the Huskies were out-rebounded 50-27 and outscored in the final 7:10 of the third quarter, 24-8, as the Wildcats ran their winning streak to 13 games following a 77-60 win over HBU Wednesday. 
Anna Strickland posted her 14th double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while 
Amanda Johnson - earning her first collegiate start - scored 12 points. On the season, Strickland leads the SLC and is fourth nationally with 13.4 rebounds per game. She is second in the conference in blocking (1.8) and T-4th in steals (2.1). 
Monet Neal leads the Huskies with 12.8 points per game in SLC play. The Huskies are fifth in the SLC in scoring offense (64.7) and sixth in scoring defense (63.8). 
Sam Houston State (8-11, 4-5) snapped a four-game losing skid with a 78-76 win at Lamar Wednesday night. The Bearkats feature the 1-2 punch of Shernise Robertson and Angela Beadle. Robertson leads the conference with 18.1 points per game, while Beadle nearly averages a double-double with 14.5 points (10th in SLC) and 9.8 boards per contest (2nd). Beadle leads the SLC with a 53.6 field-goal percentage and 2.1 blocked shots per game. Robertson is second with a 30.3 three-point percentage and sixth with 3.3 assists per contest. The Bearkats are ninth in the SLC in scoring offense (61.7) and 11th in scoring defense (68.3). 
Following the contest, HBU plays at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi next Wednesday before returning home for the next two games against Stephen F. Austin and Lamar.
