Friday's match against the Bearkats will kick off at 6:30 pm. SHSU leads the all-time series, 4-2-2, and the two teams tied both meetings last season. Sunday's match against the Ladyjacks is set for a 1 pm start and will be broadcast live on ESPN3. SFA leads the all-time series, 5-1-0, but HBU won the last meeting, 2-0 in the Southland Conference championship game.
HBU (3-2-1 overall, 1-0-0 SLC) opened conference play with a 3-2 win at Incarnate Word last Friday.
Allison Abendschein recorded her first-collegiate three-point game, resulting in her being named SLC Offensive Player of the Week. She scored the Huskies' first goal, then assisted on the game winner. She and
Sabriah Spencer are tied with six points apiece, as Spencer has two of the three game winners.
Ellee Hall has a team-best three helpers.
Katie Turner and
Alanis Guevara have split time in goal. Turner is 2-1-1 with a 1.07 GAA, a .765 save percentage, and two shutouts. Guevara earned her first-collegiate win Friday and is 1-1-1 with a 1.60 GAA and a .733 save percentage.
Sam Houston State (4-3-1, 1-0-0) began conference play with a 2-1 overtime win over visiting Central Arkansas Friday. Mariah Titus leads the Bearkats with four goals and nine points. Kylie Hambleton has seen most of the action in goal and is 2-3-1 with a 1.40 GAA, a .769 save percentage, and one shutout.
Stephen F. Austin (1-6-1, 0-0-1) has gone 1-1-1 on its current five-game home stand. The Ladyjacks host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday night. SFA tied Northwestern State, 2-2, last Friday to open league play. Ashton Norman leads the team with three points. In goal, Lillie Ehlert is 1-5-1 with a 1.68 GAA, a .794 save percentage, and one shutout.
After this weekend, HBU returns home for the next three games, starting with Homecoming Weekend tilts against Southeastern Louisiana Oct. 2 at 7 pm and Nicholls Oct. 4 at 1 pm.
