HOUSTON – Southeastern Louisiana used a seven-run second inning to go on to a 15-4 victory and sweep HBU in the Southland Conference series Saturday afternoon at Husky Field.
Junior first baseman
Andrew Alvarez was 2-for-3 with a home run, his second of the season, two RBIs and a run for the Huskies (21-20, 12-9 SLC). Senior catcher
Samm Wiggins was 2-for-3 with an RBI and senior centerfielder
Zach Nehrir was 2-for-4 with a run. Junior second baseman
Greg Espinosa singled to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
Jacob Seward was 5-for-5 with a pair of doubles, four RBIs and three runs, while Kevin Carr was 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs for the Lions (33-12, 17-4). Ryan Byers was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and four runs, while Daniel Midyett was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run. Chris Eades added a solo home run for SELA.
Kyle Cedotal (6-2) picked up the win, allowing four runs, two earned, on nine hits with seven strikeouts and a walk in seven innings.
Senior righthander
Curtis Jones (4-5) took the loss, allowing eight runs on eight hits in one and two-thirds innings.
The Huskies return to action when they host UT Arlington in non-conference baseball Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Husky Field.
