Giorgia Carletti took home third place overall and the HBU women's golf team also took third after firing a three-over 291 in the final round of the Jackrabbit Invitational on Tuesday.
The Huskies finished the tournament with a 17-over 881 (289-301-291) across three rounds on the par-72, 6,181-yard Lakes course at the Primm Golf Club. HBU's rounds of 289 and 291 are the third and fourth lowest team scores on the year. The Huskies led the 11-team tournament field in par-four scoring at plus-19, also tying for second in par-three scoring (+6) and birdies (38).
Carletti held on to her third place mark, which she carried after the first two rounds yesterday, carding par in her final round to score a two-under 214 (68-74-72). Carletti's 68 in her first round is the lowest round turned in by a Husky this year.
Senior
Rachel Mulkey finished in a three-way tie for 10th. The native of Flower Mound, Texas, led all players with 16 pars and shot a 74 in her final round to score four over par for the tournament (74-72-74 – 220).
Sophomore
Charlotte Hartshorn more than cut her placing in half with a two-under 70 in her final round. Tied for 31st after two rounds, Hartshorn improved by eight stokes between her second and third turns on the course to record 223 (75-78-70) for the weekend and finish with a share of 14th.
Junior
Aries Ramirez and senior
Caitlyn Cassity rounded out the HBU ticket, scoring within two strokes of each other. Ramirez shared 26th place after shooting a 76 in her final round to finish at 227 (72-79-76), while Cassity carded her lowest round of the weekend at 75 for a share of 30th at 229 (77-77-75).
The Huskies will now get set for their host tournament, the HBU Husky Invitational. The tournament will take place March 30-31 at Riverbend Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas.
