WGOLF: Huskies Finish Third at ULM Invitational

HCU closes with tournament-best final round to secure podium finish

MONROE, La. - The HCU women's golf team finished third at the ULM Invitational on Tuesday at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, Louisiana.

The Huskies posted a three-round total of 11-over par, recording rounds of 7-over and 9-over before delivering the lowest team score of the tournament in the final round with a 5-under performance.
ULM claimed the team title at 8-under, followed by Samford at 6-over.

Junior Natcha Makmanee led the Huskies with a ninth-place finish at 1-over overall. Makmanee carded rounds of 73, 77 and a tournament-low 5-under 67 in the final round. She opened with a birdie on hole two and added another on hole five, before picking up additional birdies on holes 15, 17 and 18 to close strong.

Sophomore Alyssa Stewart finished tied for 19th at 6-over after rounds of 76, 76 and 2-under 70. Stewart recorded birdies on holes 15 and 17 in the final round to help anchor the team's late push.

Senior Alejandra Ferrer placed sixth overall at 1-under for the tournament, posting rounds of 71, 71 and 1-over 73. Ferrer opened her final round with back-to-back birdies on holes one and two and added another on hole 12.

Sophomore Hailey Hendershott finished tied for 17th at 5-over with rounds of 75, 73 and 73. Hendershott recorded birdies on holes 16 and 18 in the final round.

Senior Sara Pihlajamaki finished tied for 31st at 9-over after rounds of 74, 78 and 73, recording birdies on holes 11 and 12 during the final round.

Freshman Serena Churchill, competing as an individual, finished at 8-over with rounds of 74, 72 and 78.

HCU's final round surge of 5-under marked the lowest team score of the event and propelled the Huskies into a third-place finish in the 14-team field.
