WGOLF: Pihlajamaki Moves Up 11 Spots on Day Two at NCAA Regional

The Southland Conference champion carded an even-par 70 in her second round


 
WACO, Texas – HCU's Sara Pihlajamaki fired an even-par 70 on day two at the Waco NCAA Regional held at Ridgewood Country Club on Tuesday afternoon, moving up 10 spots in the field from where she stood at the end of day one.
 
For the tournament, Pihlajamaki stands at +8 with a total of 148 (78-70) and is currently tied for 45th in the 65-person field.
 
Starting on hole 10, round two started with four consecutive pars for the freshman before a bogey on 14. She then went par-birdie-par-bogey to close out her front nine at one-over. Pihlajamaki then opened her back nine with a bogey before carding back-to-back birdies on holes two and three to move back to even. A bogey followed on hole four before she birdied number five to again pull even. Pihlajamaki finished out her round with four-straight pars. Over the last 27 holes at the tournament, she's just one-over. Her even-par round today tied for the 19th-best round of the day.
 
Pihlajamaki will close out the regional with round three on Wednesday, May 13, with a 9:40 a.m. tee time.
