WGOLF: Huskies Sit Third After Two Rounds at ULM Invitational

Ferrer leads HCU heading into final round

MONROE, La. - The HCU women's golf team sits in third place after two rounds at the ULM Invitational, held at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, Louisiana.

The Huskies posted rounds of 7-over and 9-over for a 36-hole total of 16-over par, trailing host ULM and Samford heading into Tuesday's final round.

Senior Alejandra Ferrer leads HCU and is tied for fifth individually at 2-under par. Ferrer opened with a 1-over 73, recording birdies on holes five, 12 and 13. She followed with a 3-under 69 in the second round, carding birdies on holes five, eight, 12 and 15 to move under par for the tournament.

Senior Hailey Hendershott is in 17th place at 4-over par after posting rounds of 74 and 74. In her opening round, she recorded a birdie on hole seven, while adding birdies on holes 10, 15 and 17 in the second round.

Sophomore Natcha Makmanee stands at 6-over following rounds of 73 and 77. She recorded birdies on holes 13 and 15 during the first round and added another on hole five in the second round.

Sophomore Alyssa Stewart and freshman Sara Pihlajamaki are both at 8-over for the tournament. Stewart carded rounds of 75 and 77, recording a birdie on hole 13 in the opening round and another on hole 12 in round two. Pihlajamaki posted rounds of 75 and 77, with a birdie on hole 12 in the first round.

Freshman Serena Churchill, competing as an individual, sits at 2-over through two rounds after rounds of 72 and 74. Churchill recorded birdies on holes five, 15 and 16 in the opening round and added a birdie on hole 14 in the second round.

HCU will begin the final round Tuesday morning with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m. Ferrer will tee off at 8:30 on hole 1A, followed by Hendershott on 1B and Makmanee on hole 2. Stewart and Pihlajamaki will tee off on holes 3A and 3B, while Churchill will begin her round on hole 18B.
