Live StatsGame NotesHOUSTON – The HBU women's basketball team begins a stretch of five games in Houston in the month of December, four in the comforts of Sharp Gym, with a 5:30 p.m. opening tip against Trinity Wednesday.
The game against the Tigers is the first-ever meeting on the hardwood. HBU played a fellow member of the Division III Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) when defeating Southwestern, 90-56, in an exhibition on Nov. 6, 2015.
HBU (2-3) went 1-1 at the UTSA Thanksgiving Classic, defeating first-time opponent, Nebraska Omaha, 64-51, but falling to the hosts on Sunday, 79-50.
Rachel Arthur earned All-Tournament honors after averaging 15.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
Amanda Johnson came off the bench Sunday to score a career-high 11 points, shooting 4-of-6 from the floor and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. On the season, Arthur is T-5th in the SLC with 14.8 points per game, while
Anna Strickland is 9th with a 14.2 average. Strickland continues to lead the conference in both rebounding (12.8) and blocked shots (2.0). As a team, the Huskies are shooting 40 percent from the floor, while the opposition is shooting 42 percent.
Trinity remained perfect on the season at 6-0 following a 64-56 home win over Hardin-Simmons on Nov. 28. Both Anecia Richardson and Elizabeth Balido lead the Tigers with 12.2 points per game, with the latter being the biggest three-point threat at 52 percent (16-for-31). On the boards, Bryony Harris is tops with 6.0 rebounds per game. As a team, Trinity is shooting 39 percent from the floor compared to 30 percent for its opponents.
After the contest, HBU plays at cross-town rival Texas Southern Saturday at 2 p.m. from TSU's H&PE Arena before closing out the 2015 portion with three home games: Texas State (12/16; 7 p.m.), UT Arlington (12/19; 1 p.m.), and Huston-Tillotson (12/28; 2 p.m.).
